The City will resume issuing permits to peddlers and solicitors effective Monday, March 1, 2021. The City had discontinued issuing these permits in 2020 due to concerns associated with Covid-19 and the associated local state of disaster due to public health emergency. With few exceptions, any person engaged in soliciting or peddling activities within the City must have a permit. Even with a permit, no peddler or solicitor may conduct activities between the hours before 8:00 a.m. or after 9:00 p.m. and no peddler or solicitor may peddle or solicit in the public streets, or from medians in the streets, within the city limits, or in any way block, obstruct, or unduly hinder passage on public streets within the city limits.
Any owner or lawful occupant of private property within the territorial limits of the city, may prohibit peddling, or solicitation by registering their property with City Hall and be added to the “no-contact” list. No person peddling or soliciting may contact any person who is on the no-contact list. Residents who wish to be added to the no-contact list or anyone with questions can call City Hall at (940) 592-2131.
