Fire Chief Andy Payne presented life-saving awards at last night's City Council meeting in response to an incident that occurred at the Iowa Park Municipal Swimming Pool on June 4, 2022. A young swimmer lost responsiveness while in the water. Numerous pool patrons and staff jumped into action. The victim was revived before first responders arrived and was fully responsive as he was transported to the hospital via ambulance. While there were many heroes that day, the following three youth are recognized for their actions in saving this life. Owen Horton brought the victim out of the water, Connor Upton performed chest compressions, and Kaylee Parker performed rescue breathing. Many others assisted in various capacities, however, these three performed heroically and the community has reasons to be proud of these young people. ... See MoreSee Less

Iowa Park city hall, police and library was contacted by Santa Bookgirl Kumpina today. Santa is a student from Latvia, attending medical university - the Riga Stradins University, and is working her way through college. She wanted to let the citizens know that she would be in town doing door to door sales. Santa has acquired all her proper licenses to go door to door. She asks that if you are simply not interested in her products just let her know and she will wish you a good day and move on. Included is a photo of Santa. She is driving Ford Taurus that displays Texas registration on it. ... See MoreSee Less
