Does the library offer ebooks?
The library is proud to offer ebooks and eaudiobooks. You must set up your ebook access with the library director. Once you are issued your login and password, you can check out materials on your device anytime of the day or night.
Are retired books and other library materials available for purchase from the library?
Yes, at least once a year the Friends of the Library will host a used book sale. Proceeds from this sale are used to purchase new library materials.
Does the library have computers available for use by the public and is the internet available?
Yes, the Tom Burnett Memorial Library has computer workstations available for public use with internet connection. The library’s computers are also connected to a black and white printer and the charge is ten cents ($0.10) a page to print.
How can I obtain a library card?
Applications for library cards are available at the front desk of the Tom Burnett Memorial Library; children under the age of 16 years should be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian when applying for a library card. Proof of residency is required at the time the application is submitted, as well as a valid driver’s license or photo ID card from state or government agency . Your acceptance of a library card from the Tom Burnett Memorial Library indicates your agreement to be responsible for any and all library materials checked out by yourself and children under your care and that you will abide by all library policies and ordinances.
How long may I keep library materials checked out?
Books, CDs, and audio books may be checked out for up to 21 days, while magazines can be checked out for 7 days, and movies and videos may be checked out for up to 3 days.
If I can’t find a specific book I’m looking for, is it possible to order it from another library?
Yes, most books are available through the Interlibrary Loan Program for Tom Burnett Memorial Library patrons in good standing.
Is the library a wireless hotspot?
Yes, the Tom Burnett Memorial Library is a wireless hotspot. You can bring your own device and the library staff will supply you with the password.
Is there a copy machine and fax available to the public at the Tom Burnett Memorial Library?
Yes, the cost of copying documents is ten cents ($0.10) per page and the cost of faxing a document is one dollar ($1.00) per page.
What are the fine amounts levied for overdue library materials?
Overdue videos and DVDs will initiate a fine of one dollar ($1.00) per day while all other library materials that are overdue will initiate a fine of ten cents ($0.10) at day.
What children’s programs are available at the Library?
Story time is offered for pre-school children every Thursday at 11:00 am. The Library also has a Summer Reading Program for young readers during the months of June and July. The Reading Buddies Program is also available to Elementary age readers during the summer.
What is a TexShare card?
A TexShare library card is available through the Tom Burnett Memorial Library for patrons that have been in good standing for at least 6 months. This card allows you to check out books at other participating libraries in the area, free of charge. The card is good for 1 year from the date issued.
What other services are offered through the library?
The Tom Burnett Memorial Library has a fax machine and a lamination machine available for public use. The charge is $1.00 per page on the fax and $0.50 a foot on the lamination.
The library also offers different classes and activities throughout the year. Events can be found here, on the city website, the library facebook page, and posted at the library.
