Fees for Credit/Debit Card Payments to Increase January 1st

The City of Iowa Park accepts payment of fees, fines, court costs, or other charges in person, by mail, or by electronic means. Payments may be made at City Hall and other authorized locations, and may be by cash, check or credit card.  Credit card payments are assessed an additional processing fee as determined by the City Council.  In Fiscal Year 2022-2023, the City charged a 3% credit card fee to cover the fees charged by the credit card companies. Due to the increasing cost to the City from credit card companies, an increase in fees passed on to card users was determined to be needed. The Texas Local Government Code (Chapter 132) allows governing bodies to collect up to 5% reimbursement fee.  Effective January 1, 2024, the City will assess a 5% fee to customers using credit cards as payments. Customers can still pay by cash or check to avoid the credit card fees. To view the updated ordinance, click here.
