Junked Vehicle Ordinance

The parking, placing, accumulation or storage of any junked vehicles within the city limits where they are visible from the street is defined as a public nuisance and prohibited by the Code of Ordinances (Article. 8.06).  A vehicle is considered junked if the registration has expired or if the vehicle has been inoperable and has remained inoperable for more than 72 hours (if on public property) or more than 30 days (if on private property). Both the owner(s) of the junked vehicle(s) and the owner(s) of the property where the vehicles are parked can be charged with a misdemeanor.  Owners of junked vehicles are encouraged to legally store the vehicles until they can be repaired or legally disposed of.  More information can be found at Junked Vehicle Code.
